Administrator Long-Term Care 

Temporary Full-Time Contract (Maternity Leave 14-months)

 

Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Administrator Long-Term Care, the Administrator Long-Term Care is responsible for the administration of Long-Term Care activities within defined divisional departments and has a home office at the Tabor Manor Long-Term Care Home.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Education*

  •        Post-secondary degree from a program that is a minimum of three years in duration, or a post-secondary diploma in health or social services program that is a minimum of two years.
  •        Has successfully completed Long-Term Care Home administration or management that is a minimum of 100 hours in duration of instruction time.

 

Experience*

  •        Minimum three years working experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity in health or social services sector, of in another managerial capacity if they have completed the course requirements as listed in Ontario Regulation 246/22.

 

Interpersonal Skills/Contacts

  •        Ability to identify and respond effectively to needs and requests that are difficult to determine and require expert advice or is required to resolve issues with emotionally troubled, angry or upset people.

 

Problem Solving, Judgement and Decision Making

  •        Dealing with complex and unique.
  •        Interpreting and analyzing different factors, guidelines and precedents are limited.

 

Authority and Responsibility

  •        Errors in decisions/actions/recommendations would have moderate impact on the organization.  Work is not closely supervised, and errors might not be caught at the next level.
  •        Ensures accuracy or that others have information/data/files in the form they need.
  •        Orders inventory from suppliers to meet material requires from departments and has some discretion in deciding where to order, at what price, and where to store it.
  •        Has overall responsibility for the work and results of subordinates in work unit.  Responsible for hiring, discipline, firing, evaluating, motivating, training and developing staff.
  •        Has significant direct or indirect impact on the longer-term safety, well-being or interests of user groups.
  •        Has input to and/or participates in preparing budgets for work unit, or cost-recovery activities; may participate in funding or cost-recovery discussions, proposals, and planning regarding the expenditure and generation of revenues.

 

Other

  •        Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  •        Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/ Sector Screening (VPS).
  •        Legally entitled to work in Canada.

 

Key Responsibilities

Guardian of the Culture

  •        Is responsible for guarding the culture of the Long-Term Care Homes in all aspects of the Long-Term Care Home’s operation.
  •        Is an ambassador of Radiant Care by tangibly exercising Radiant Care’s vision, mission, and core values.

 

Business and Strategy Success

  •        Oversee and supervise departmental areas of the organization including Nursing, Therapeutic Recreation, Nutrition Management, and Scheduling.
  •        Translates divisional strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth for employees.
  •        Work closely with the Senior Administrator Long-Term Care on matters related to the Long-Term Care division.
  •        Collaborate with the Long-Term Care management team to develop and implement plans for operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel designed to accommodate rapid growth objectives of the organization.
  •        In collaboration with the Director of Human Resources, leads the Return-to-Work initiatives within the organization.
  •        Is directly involved in recruitment of registered employees together with the Directors of Care.

 

Accountability, Performance and Quality

  •        Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the organization and ensure compliance to all policies.
  •        Work independently while ensuring Senior Administrator Long-Term Care expectations are readily met and exceeded.
  •        Oversee and lead the divisional departments to successful accreditation and sustainability plan.
  •       Achieves and sustains pertinent financial benchmarks

Customer Service and Development

  •        Develop and build trust relationships with key customers and stakeholders within and external to the organization, (employees, residents, families, volunteers, academic partners)
  •        Coach and develop teams across multiple locations and over various functions to ensure they are delivering against key business metrics.

 

Other

  • Knowledge of and promotes the home's Montessori Philosophy of Care.
  • Understand and adhere to the Collective Agreement, when applicable.
  • Complete all Mandatory Training assigned by the Radiant Care.
  • Other duties, as assigned by Divisional Lead.
  • Travel between multiple sites.
