Therapeutic Recreationist Summer Worker

Job Summary
A seventy (70) hour per pay period, Temporary Full-Time Summer Therapeutic Recreationist Contract position is being offered in the Radiant Care Pleasant Manor Therapeutic Recreation department. This is a non-union position which supports Radiant Care Pleasant Manor and reports to the Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor. The approximate start date of this position is June 1, 2026 for up-to 8 weeks. This position is dependent on the approval of Canada Summer Jobs government grant funding.

Schedule

Rotation of full time hours with one weekeend every 3 weeks

Hours will be scheduled Monday through Sunday  8:00am - 4:00pm        

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Summer recreationists are responsible for assisting residents in any activity planned by the department in recreation, social, and craft programs during the summer.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to,

  • A strong desire to work with and in a seniors care environment
  • Montessori training, or knowledge of Montessori approaches/theories would be an asset

 

Mandated Criteria

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
