Volunteer Coordinator

Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Volunteer Coordinator manages all aspects of volunteering within Radiant Care to meet the needs of the residents/tenants and the objectives of Radiant Care.

Qualifications and Skills Required

SKILL

Education

  • Completion of a community college program

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years, but less than 5 years

Contacts

  • Primarily require the ability to identify needs or requests and to provide advice, teach or train. Frequent interactions with volunteers, as well as working interdependently with multiple internal department heads.


EFFORT

Problem Solving

  • Decisions involve interpreting and analyzing difference factors; guidelines and precedents are limited. Frequent opportunity for independent action or judgement. 


RESPONSIBILITY

Accountability

  • Errors in decisions/actions/recommendations would have moderate impact on the organization. Work is not closely supervised, and errors might not be caught at the next level.

Information

  • Modifies information/data/files that are somewhat complex. Ensures accuracy or that others have information/data/files in the form they need. Develops methods or formats for storing or presenting information. Prepares reports.

Materials

  • Orders inventory from list of suppliers to meet material requests and has some input into the development of policies. Refers non-routine decisions elsewhere.

  • Coordinates the work of others including co-workers and volunteers.

General

  • Agrees and supports the objectives and philosophy of the Organization and displays a caring, respectful attitude towards residents, families, and team members.
  • Sensitive to the unique, ethnic and faith community of Radiant Care.
  • Strong ambassador of Radiant Care.
  • Direct and firm, yet diplomatic and caring approach
  • Willingness to upgrade and maintain personal and educational qualifications as required by the changing demands of the job.
  • Working knowledge of the regulations dictated by the Government of Ontario and Quality Improvement Initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, personal, customer service, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in driving and achieving results.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaboration with a variety of departments and staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to lead by example, coach and mentor others to be successful.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and together with others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literate, including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (esp. Excel).

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Coordination
    • Management and development of volunteer engagement.
    • Development and implementation of strategies and approaches that will increase the volunteer base to support Radiant Care’s projected growth trajectory.
    • Development and implementation of strategies and approaches that will sustain and nurture healthy relationships with our volunteers.
    • Liaise with other community agencies and develop volunteer partnerships (such as schools, colleges, universities, and local churches)
  • General
    • Accurate and organized reporting, tracking, recordkeeping, and program maintenance in accordance with the requirements of the organization and related agencies or government bodies.
    • Liaise with internal functional program staff to achieve organizational objectives and to meet resident’s and tenant’s needs.
    • Assist, maintain and update pertinent policies and manuals as needed.
    • Identify the needs and talents of our seniors. Complete reports/forms to help with the tracking in these areas. 
    • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
